London Fashion Week Update
SEPTEMBER 20, 2015 by GARY AT CHUPI
We have just arrived home from the U.K following our appearance at London Fashion Week 2015. Having returned from New York Fashion Week a few days previous, our last exhibition of the current season took place in the gorgeous surroundings of London last weekend and it marked the end of what has been a hectic summer schedule which took in trips to some of the world’s most prominent cities in the world of fashion.
Each year the Irish presence grows at London Fashion Week. The route across the pond is well paved for Irish designers but 2015 marked a record year for Irish involvement at the event. Back in February, 8 Irish designers were showcased in partnership with Irish Design 2015, this season that number had grown to 11. The last Irish showcase took place in Brewer Street car park, near the main events in Soho. This season, Brewer Street car park was the new primary home of London Fashion Week, having moved from its formerly established position in “the tents” in front of Somerset House. This season’s Irish showcase, Unfold, moved to the more regal settings of the Institute of Contemporary Arts. We were delighted to be representing Irish Design alongside some wonderful fellow Irish designers like We Are Islanders, Emma Manley, Honor Fitzsimons to name but a few.
I created this laurel crown for our catwalk shows and I love it so much I’ve been stealing it to wear to parties and even taking the dogs to the park I’m even sketching a range of headpieces for SS16.
