BEHIND THE SCENES AT SHOWCASE 2014
FEBRUARY 24, 2014 by DOROTHY MURPHY
This year was Chupi’s first time to exhibit at Showcase 2014 and what a fantastic experience it turned out to be! After weeks of meticulous planning and preparation the day finally came to start preparing the exhibition space. Everything was loaded up in a van and off we went.
We arrived to a spotlessly white space ready to be transformed into Chupi’s vision. With some artistic vision Chupi was able to transform plain cardboard tubes into beautiful stands by wrapping with a custom printed paper that was illustrated with beautiful hand drawn daisies mirroring the same daisies on Chupi’s beautiful gift boxes, bags and gift cards. Then it was time to start the major prepping of the space, cans of paint were cracked open and brushes put to use.
Finally the space was starting to pull together and was starting to resemble Chupi’s vision. After a few finishing touches the space was ready. We were all delighted with the result of our efforts, the space was perfect to display Chupi’s beautiful pieces and was warm and inviting.
The idea was that you can enter the space and float around the pieces that were displayed on islands according to collection, really getting a sense of the beauty of the jewellery in a not only a gorgeous but relaxed and warm welcoming setting.
Showcase was an amazing experience including getting a chance to see all the amazing design this country produces to meeting loads of lovely people. Chupi was delighted to win the award for the best overall stand in the Creative Island and win a commendation for best jewellery, making her first time at Showcase one to remember.
