5 of our favourite romantic getaways in Ireland

We’re so excited to explore our beautiful island again. From fairytale lakeside lodges to remote island suites and cool city hotels, here are some of our very favourite places for romantic breaks.

Ballyfin House, Co Laois

The long, winding driveway, the beautiful lush demesne, the striking handsome mansion overlooking the lake – a trip to Ballyfin is indeed the stuff of fairytales.

Dubbed “easily the grandest hotel in Ireland” by Condé Nast Traveler and meticulously restored to its former Regency mansion glory, expect decadent gilded four-poster beds, lavish antique chandeliers, hand-painted murals and a breathtaking collection of Irish art and antiques.

Though the historic surroundings are luxurious, you’ll get a warm and friendly Irish country house welcome and a few quirky touches, like the whispering room, the set of ancient Irish elk antlers or the dress-up room that features period pieces from the Lyric Opera Company in Chicago (yes, really).

There’s also lots to explore and do in the 600-acre grounds: visit the rose garden and fernery, go clay pigeon shooting or horse riding, climb the Famine-era tower, take a picnic in the grotto or even head out for a romantic boat trip on the lake.

Goes well with… Edwardian Hawthorn eternity diamond ring , made from our signature hawthorn twig paired with sparkling diamonds.

Inis Meáin Restaurant & Suites, Aran Islands, Co Galway

Arriving to the island of Inis Meain by ferry, often through the Wild Atlantic haze, feels like you’ve found somewhere magical and hidden – and that’s because you truly have.

Dry stone walls, dozing sheep and green fields give way to a chic and modern retreat, surrounded by wild and rugged splendour.

Named one of one of the top 10 architectural retreats in the world, there are just five private suites here; each one simply but elegantly designed, with its own south-facing outdoor seating area and long continuous window that gives you a postcard-perfect uninterrupted view of Inis Meáin island and Galway Bay.

Spend your days exploring the beautiful island by foot or by bike, tucking into a delicious pre-packed ‘explorer’s lunch’ of hearty soup and heavenly focaccia, and your evenings eating dinners made using ingredients harvested from the island.

It’s no wonder Inis Meáin Restaurant & Suites receives rave reviews the world over and have won a host of awards (most recently the prestigious 2021 Michelin Green Star for their passionate sustainability efforts) – their current season is fully booked, but we think it would make for a divine 2022 honeymoon.

Goes well with… Darling in the Wild , a glittering half-carat grey diamond set in an elegant 14k solid gold polished band.

The Westbury Hotel, Co Dublin

You don’t always need to head to the countryside for a fun getaway. We love the romance of Georgian Dublin and The Westbury Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the city.

Whether it’s cocktails or a buzzy brunch in Balfes, afternoon tea on The Gallery (the dainty china is available to buy too!) or a decadent nap on a four-poster bed, as luxe city breaks go, it’s hard to beat.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s just steps away from our flagship Chupi store ….

The Cliff House, Co Waterford

Set in the tiny, picturesque fishing village of Ardmore, the 5-star Cliff House Hotel is also home to an award-winning spa and Michelin-star restaurant, making it the perfect place to exhale.

Dug into the cliff itself, every room boasts uninterrupted sea views and the balcony is the perfect spot to have a hearty breakfast on.

Days here are filled with wind-swept cliff walks, cosy pints in the village pubs (when such things return), soaks in the steaming outdoor jacuzzi or dips in the incredible swimming pool, set against floor-to-ceiling windows boasting calming ocean views.

Don’t forget to pop into Ardmore Pottery & Gallery , which stocks some of Ireland’s loveliest ceramics.

Goes well with… Starlight , a stunning 1.89 carat Blue Sapphire ring flanked by three sparkling diamonds on either side.

Cabü Cabins, Co Cavan

Nestled in Cavan’s Killykeen forest park is Cabü Cabins . They’re what hygge dreams are made of –  cosy and comfy with lots of earthy tones and a healthy dose of Scandi cool. Expect hot tubs and saunas, fire pits and forest walks.

The cabins are self-catering (with kitchens fitted out with everything from cocktail shakers and martini glasses to Kerrygold butter and tea bags), though there are drinks and nibbles to be had at the Sitooterie, a chic communal socialising space, complete with a giant wood burner.

In case your tire of the hot tubs, there are plenty of activities available too – from boating and kayaking to fishing and cycling and even table tennis.

Goes well with… Stars in the Sky , a shimmering solid gold disc set with four tiny diamonds.
