Recycled Gold and why Chupi uses it

Earth Day is fast approaching on the 22nd of April. With that in mind, we wanted to give insight into how we incorporate sustainable practice here at Chupi. In this blog post, we discuss the use of recycled gold and why we choose to use it.

We love to use recycled gold and re-refined metals such as gold and platinum in the making of our jewellery. This includes materials from in house recycling, existing jewellery, post industry and other resources. As our recycled and re-defined silver, gold and rose gold are refined back into their pure elements, they are of the same high quality as newly mined metals, but importantly without the level of degradation to our natural resources and landscapes caused by mining.

This process (as well as our entire jewellery production) is carried out in Ireland. The wonderful Colm and Barry who have over 40 years of experience in the casting business oversee the recycling and refining to the casting of the pieces. To finish, all Chupi jewellery is sent to Dublin Castle to be assayed so you can be assured of its purity and strength, an Assay mark being a guarantee of precious metal content.

We are still a small company but aim to become more and more sustainable. We aim to help diminish the negative impacts of gold mining by reducing the demand for newly mined metals. Every piece we produce is made in Ireland, with love. That is why using recycled gold is so important to us.
