The Chupi Engagement Series: Nadine & Emma

Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Engagement Series: Nadine & Emma. Emma and Nadine tell us about their gorgeous proposals to each other with the most beautiful Grey Diamond Engagement Rings.

We met briefly in 2013 at a work event (we only know this because there is photo evidence!) – but didn’t really become close until 2015. I was working as a manager in a language school in Dublin, and Emma worked as a part of their head office in Switzerland.

She came out to our school quite often and ended up spending a lot of the summer there, so we began working together very closely! After that summer, we kept in touch (aka we spoke every single day) and started dating in 2016.

Oblivious, I opened it, shook the wrapped box and asked jokingly: “Are you proposing to me?”

Excitingly, we have two engagement stories! Emma proposed to me on New Year’s Eve 2019. We had planned to head up to Belfast with our dog, Rio, and do some sightseeing. We rented a lovely little cottage and spent New Year’s eve eating food and playing board games. We watched the fireworks on the tv and she said she had a present for me and handed me a giant Christmas cracker. Oblivious, I opened it, shook the wrapped box and asked jokingly: “Are you proposing to me?”. When I opened the wrapping and saw the Chupi box I started crying, and there it was! I was so surprised!

After her proposal, I was really excited about mine! I had planned to do it while we were in London for Emma’s birthday at the end of March – I was going to surprise her with tickets to Hamilton and then was going to propose on the Albert Bridge in Battersea (close to where she used to live).

I am so grateful for the wonderful customer service at Chupi – it made the entire experience even better.

Unfortunately, our trip got cancelled due to COVID-19. I thought about waiting until after everything passed but decided that I didn’t want to wait! So with the help of my friends, I planned a proposal in their back garden. I told Emma that I was going to their house (they live across the street and we have chosen to quarantine together) to bake her birthday cake. Instead, I made a path with tealights from the front door to the backdoor.

When she came over, she followed the lights to the back garden and I was waiting with the ring ! She was so surprised, and it really helped us remember what is most important through these scary times.

The first piece of jewellery I got Emma was a Chupi Jigsaw necklace and ever since then we always admired Chupi pieces. When we saw they did engagement rings , we knew they were the perfect piece!

Emma got me the You, Me, and Magic ring with a grey diamond , so I knew when I purchased hers I wanted something with a grey diamond as well. I was drawn to the Queen of Hearts ring because I thought it would really suit her slender hands. It also had the right balance of contemporary and vintage influences.

I visited the store in person! The same gal who helped me was also the same one who helped Emma, her name was Sarah. I booked an appointment online beforehand which was great because it meant that all the rings I wanted to see were all ready ahead of time. Sarah was so great at being supportive while allowing me to make my own decision. I am so grateful for the wonderful customer service at Chupi – it made the entire experience even better.

I think of Belfast and our lovely New Years celebration when I look at my Chupi Engagement Ring . Emma proposed in a way that really encapsulated ‘us” as a couple, and that’s what my ring reminds me of! We found a wedding venue and deposited less than 2 months after the proposal…. But the date isn’t until 2022!
