Meet the latest couple in the Chupi Engagement Series : Sam & Emily. Sam tells us how he didn’t let Covid-19 stop his proposal plans to Emily with the most beautiful Chupi Engagement Ring .

We have been together for 13 years in January. We went to the same primary school but never knew each other, but our mums became friends! So when we were a bit older we met for the first time at a lunch. We went to different secondary schools and finally exchanged numbers a year or so later and that was it. All the MySpace, Bebo and MSN chats amounted to the most amazing years that followed. We have travelled, bought our first house, puppy and now expecting our first child!

I decided at the end of last year that 2020 would be the year. It’s certainly been a wild one with Covid-19 hitting and affecting every aspect of our lives but this wasn’t going to stop me! It tried to and certainly forced plans to change right down to asking Gary (Emily’s father) for permission, which ended up being in the garage whilst we were looking for Halloween decorations! Thankfully after 13 years he said yes! Not only because I don’t know what I would have done had he said ‘No’ even in a jokey way but I’d also got the perfect ring!

This allowed me get planning the time and place that I would ask. We had holidays in Spain and Greece cancelled due to Covid-19 but the show must go on! We figured a staycation would be the way forward and this was music to my ears as this lead to the perfect setting for us.

It was at that perfect point, the corner of the walled garden that I asked Emily if she would marry me. After a number of ‘No’s’ and an ‘Oh My god’ out of pure surprise, she fell to her knees as well and said Yes!

We decided to stay at Babington House for two nights and fully embrace our staycation in the U.K. On our first day we had a lovely walk around the grounds and allowed me to scout out the perfect spot. The following morning came and after an incredible breakfast we headed out for a walk and the ring came with us!

We had plans to take some pictures for our baby announcement and the small pumpkins in the walled garden were going to be a great prop for the shoot. I had a hidden agenda with the photo shot and pressed record on the camera instead.

It was at that perfect point, the corner of the walled garden that I asked Emily if she would marry me. After a number of ‘No’s’ and an ‘Oh My god’ out of pure surprise, she fell to her knees as well and said Yes! I then questioned her as to why she was down here with me but at this point nothing of any sense was coming out and that didn’t matter at all! She’s said YES!! Also the ring fitted perfectly!

We discuss wedding plans regularly, day dreaming mostly. We know roughly what we want to do but with everything that’s going on we aren’t rushing into anything in the immediate future. Keeping everything crossed for a possible 2022 wedding!
