Meet the latest couple in The Chupi Engagement Series: Victoria and Alan. This lovely couple tell us about their Christmas Day engagement with the most gorgeous grey diamond engagement ring.

Victoria: We met over 7 years ago at a festival called Slam Dunk in Leeds. We went with mutual friends and got chatting the day before the festival. We ended up being glued to the hip throughout the whole festival. When we got back to Dublin I went back to Tramore but we organised a date in Dublin where we had a picnic in Stephen’s Green and an amazing day together. I (Victoria) really didn’t want to get the bus back to Tramore. But after a few trips up and down between Tramore and Dublin we made it official.

I saw the Chupi Engagement rings on Instagram years ago and fell in love with the unique designs. I was so surprised that Alan got me a Chupi Engagement Ring as I didn’t think my subtle hints ever got through. It’s also nice to support an Irish brand.

I got down on one knee and asked Victoria to marry me. There was a fair amount of screaming and Victoria shouted “IT’S CHUPI!! IT’S PERFECT!”

Alan: My plan for the engagement was always to be at Christmas. We bought our house the year before in October, so I decided to propose to Victoria the following year. I had Victoria’s parents blessing and we had decided we were going to spend that Christmas in Tramore with her family so a plan was forming. Originally were going to do the Christmas morning swim and my plan was to propose when we came out of the water but that plan was swiftly ended the week before Christmas when Victoria said she wasn’t doing the swim anymore… So Plan B came into play, I was going to get down on one knee in front of her family after we had all exchanged gifts.

Myself and Victoria’s father Michael had come up with the idea to have the ring in a gift box ornament on the tree, so we were all set. On Christmas morning I was a wreck. My best friend Griffin had periodically text me to check in and keep me calm and my parents were patiently waiting for the news. Victoria thought I was sad about not spending Christmas with my family, we still laugh about how I was acting that morning! All of Victoria’s family had arrived to the house for the Christmas dinner around 1pm, but only Michael and Victoria’s mother Caroline knew what was going to happen. We had a drink and exchanged gifts and some laughs were had.

Victoria has been a big fan of Chupi and had subtlety made hints about how pretty the rings are. I decided to be sneaky and purchase the heart ring the year before as a birthday present so that way I would have a good guide on the size I needed for her Engagement Ring.

Michael gave me the nod that he was ready to start recording, so I went to over to the Christmas tree and asked Victoria to check out this ornament. She looked at me funny as I got her to open it, showing the Chupi Engagement Ring . She shouted “OH” and I got down on one knee and asked Victoria to marry me. Thank god she didn’t leave me waiting on and shouted yes! There was a fair amount of screaming and Victoria shouted “IT’S CHUPI!! IT’S PERFECT!” so a nice sigh of relief fell over me.

Victoria has been a big fan of Chupi and had subtlety made hints about how pretty the rings are. I decided to be sneaky and purchase the Love Heart Ring the year before as a birthday present so that way I would have a good guide on the size I needed for her Engagement Ring. I really wanted it to be as perfect as I could make it down to the size.

The experience of buying the Engagement Ring from start to finish was incredible. Not having any knowledge of how these things work, I went into the store in Powerscourt Townhouse. The girls in the store were so amazing and looked after me with no issue. I had to be careful and sneaky as Victoria works across the road from the shop.

I told the staff about Victoria and what style I was looking for, they catered for it really well. I’d say I must have wrecked their heads looking at a fair few rings, but the one I chose was the second ring I looked at and I kept going back to it as comparison. The staff were amazing at contacting me letting me know when the ring was back from sizing and ready to collect.

We are getting married in August 2021 at Faithlegg in Waterford.
