Chupi Jewellery achieves B Corp certification after more than a decade of building a sustainable business
Dublin — Chupi Jewellery has been certified as a B Corp, becoming Ireland’s first and only jewellery brand to achieve the designation. The certification follows more than ten years of building the business around principles of sustainability, transparency and responsible production.
Founded by Chupi Sweetman, the company said the B Corp framework had informed its approach from the outset, shaping decisions across sourcing, design and operations. While certification has only now been formally achieved, the standards underpinning it have been embedded in the business since its early years.
All Chupi pieces are designed and made in Ireland, using responsibly sourced materials including recycled gold, conflict-free and carbon neutral natural diamonds, and carbon neutral lab-grown diamonds. The company said this end-to-end approach to design and production, combined with a focus on longevity and heirloom quality, contributed to its strong B Corp assessment score.
“The way we have built Chupi has always been guided by a sense of responsibility,” Sweetman said. “Long before we formally applied for B Corp certification, we were using its principles to shape how we worked. This is not something we have worked towards overnight. It has been part of the fabric of the business from the beginning.”
The jewellery sector has traditionally faced scrutiny in relation to environmental impact and supply chain transparency. Chupi said that working within the B Corp framework had enabled it to build a verifiably sustainable model within an industry not typically associated with such standards.
“This certification is important not just for our business, but for what it represents,” Sweetman said. “It shows that it is possible to build a jewellery company that meets the highest standards of sustainability and accountability. We are here to create beautiful pieces, but also to contribute to a world in which those pieces can be worn and passed on for generations.”
The company said the certification marks a milestone rather than an endpoint, and that it intends to continue developing its practices in line with evolving environmental and social standards.
