Meet the latest couple in the Chupi Engagement Series : Niamh & Séamus. Niamh tells us about her gorgeous engagement in The Canadian Rockies with the most beautiful Promise Me Ring.

Séamus and I first met when we both started at University College Cork back in 2009. There was a large group of us that hung out at the same parties, so we often chatted to each other. Séamus was a bit of a chancer and would often try and convince me to cook him dinner.

I finally gave in when he arrived at my house with my favourite dessert – A vanilla custard slice. It took a year and a half of flirting and liking each other’s status on Facebook when we both finally started dating.

Over the last 10 years we have been through a lot together; a couple of years of being in a long-distance relationship, moving to Canada together, health diagnoses, travelling to new countries and hiking as much as possible!

I love my Chupi promise ring so much. As said before, having my ring made in Ireland means a lot to me.

We have been living in Calgary, Canada for the past 5 years now. An hour and a half drive from Calgary you will find the beautiful Canadian Rockies and the famous national park and town of Banff. Séamus convinced me we should treat ourselves to a weekend away in the mountains as we had not been able to travel anywhere this year. He booked a gorgeous hotel in Banff and when we arrived the first snowfall of the season had started! The views were spectacular.

Séamus had booked a private helicopter tour for us both the next morning, again convincing me we should treat ourselves. However, when we arrived at the heliport the weather had turned for the worst and the tour was cancelled. Thinking back poor Séamus must have been very upset but I was none the wiser!

Luckily for him we were close to a walking trail I wanted to go on to take some pictures of my favourite mountain peaks called ‘The Three Sisters’. When there Séamus set up his camera to take a picture of us both, when we were in a pose Séamus turned around and got down on one knee and pulled out the small pink Chupi box!

The rest of the weekend was a dream. Séamus had pulled out all the stops at the hotel and on our last night he organised a night in the romantic Engadine lodge located in the middle of the mountains. We had no phone reception, so we just sat and watched the snow fall in front of a cozy fire.

I was shocked when he pulled the Chupi ring box out of his jacket. He wouldn’t be the best for hearing my hints but he said he heard me talk about Chupi three years ago so he knew it was where he would buy me the ring. Also, the fact it’s an Irish store made it all the more special to me.

We booked another virtual appointment to look at engagement rings and we picked the ‘Love is all’ ring. I can’t wait for it to arrive!!

Séamus proposed with the ‘Promise Me’ promise ring in the gold twig band. He told me he had help with picking the ring via the virtual appointment with a Chupi staff member – I would have loved to have been a fly on that virtual wall! I always said I wanted a white gold band, but he picked yellow gold and I love it. I can’t stop starting at it!

I love my Chupi promise ring so much. As said before, having my ring made in Ireland means a lot to me. Being away from family, especially this year, can be quite tough at times so the fact that he knew a little bit of Ireland in our engagement in Canada was exactly what I wanted.

We booked another virtual appointment to look at engagement rings and we picked the ‘Love is all’ ring . I can’t wait for it to arrive!! We have also had a peek at the wedding bands for both of us too…for when the time comes! At this moment we have no plans made for getting married, but we will travel home to do it. It probably won’t be for another couple of years given the current environment and planning it all from abroad but as Séamus said to me earlier ‘what’s another 10 years’….. (ahhh!).

If a Chupi engagement ring or Chupi promise piece was a part of your engagement, we’d love to hear from you and feature you on The Chupi Blog . You can find out more details on this exciting series here.
